Yelsk
The town is situated 177 kilo-meters away from Gomel. It was first mentioned
in the beginning of the 16th century as a populated locality of Mozyr powiat
in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Today Yelsk's main attraction is the Church
of the Holy Trinity (1769-1780), the monument of wooden architecture that was
put on the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus.
Tourists can also visit a memorial complex commemorating the victims of the
20th century, the local history museum and see the famous Yelsk adornments.
